What now?

Basically, Nintendo have announced the Wii U, a successor to the current Nintendo Wii, a console which in my mind could revamp the gaming world. But...there is one slight problem. It isn't actually out yet. Which means gamers have a long wait until sometime after April next year. That's quite a while away. And, with reported development troubles, the chances are it could be released even later. Sure, there's a fantastic lineup of games to make us happy, Darksiders 2, Batman: Arkham City, Ghost Recon Online, Aliens: Colonial Marines, but all of these will be out for other consoles before hand. I just don't know if I can wait that long for Arkham City. The main problems that I see for Nintendo now is the games that they are putting out for the Wii at the moment. Kirby: Return to Dreamland and The Legned of Zelda: Skyward Sword are really the only two titles that are really attention grabbing. Aside from that, what's stopping those other gamers from switching to the XBox 360 or PS3? Can gamers really wait that long for the Wii U, or will they still buy it?

Not quite what I had in mind...

Went to the store today to see if I could find a copy of Metroid Prime Trilogy, didn't go so well. I'm going to have another look tomorrow, but something I saw in the shop made me think. The Nintendo Wii had the smallest section of allocated games in the store, followed by the 3DS and the DS. Xbox 360 had the biggest and the PS3 was just below. And the people I saw there weren't looking at the Wii games. Will too much time pass before Nintendo releases the Wii U? Will the people forget about it? Only time will tell.
